RJ TextEd

Text editors come with various features and you can choose one or more, depending on your needs or preferred programming language. RJ TextEd combines the functionality of numerous text and source editors into a single package. It works as plain text editor, but you can also use it as a powerful and convenient PHP, ASP, JavaScript and CSS editor. The application supports many other languages, it provides spell checking, auto completion and HTML validation features, it allows you to preview CSS and HTML projects and much more.

RJ TextEd is freeware and it should not take too long to download the setup file and install its components. The application is known to work on Windows Me and all later editions, up to Windows 8. A portable version is available as well, so you can take the software with you and use it on other computers.

You won't need too much time to study the layout of the interface or its functions. It presents a large number of options, buttons and tabs, but everything is very well organized and you will not end up lost or stuck. You can browse through your local folders, manage text clips, create to do lists and more, on separate tabs, on the left side of the interface. Files can be edited, previewed and organized in the larger area on the right.

Besides plain text files, the software allows you to create blank files, for PHP, CSS, HTML and many other programming languages. Alternatively, you can start with one or more templates. You can open and edit multiple files, on separate tabs. The text clip manager can help you insert regular sequences faster, by dragging and dropping a clip over the editing area. Files can be previewed on separate tabs, with different built-in web browsers, depending on what browsers are installed on your computer.

RJ TextEd comes with a dual-panel file manager as well. You can open different folders side by side and move or copy your files just by clicking and dragging them. Furthermore, the software allows you to connect to a FTP or SFTP server, so you can upload your files right away.
